Good wound care prevents most surgical site infections and gives the best cosmetic outcome.
First 48 hours
Keep dressing intact and dry. Mild oozing is normal — replace dressing if it becomes saturated.
Showering
Usually permitted at 48 hours — pat dry, no soaking baths or swimming for 2 weeks.
Signs of infection
Increasing redness, swelling, warmth, pus, fever, increasing pain. Contact us immediately.
Scar care
Once fully healed (2–3 weeks), gentle massage and silicone gel improve cosmesis. Avoid direct sun for 6 months.
Suture removal
Most surgeons use dissolvable sutures; non-dissolvable are removed at 7–10 days.
